First stop of the day was the Shamu show. We sat in the non-wet zone as I did not feel like being soaked yet. Brock of course was disappointed but luckily watching the whales perform took his mind off of it. Those animals are so amazing and the trainers are so lucky to being doing what they do. I would love to one day have their jobs! Alyvia was fascinated and it brought back great memories for James and I.
The second stop of the day was a water ride/roller coaster. I went with Brock on this thinking I wouldn't get as wet as the other ride. Well, I was so wrong! Brock and I thought after the first drop that we got off lucky, neither of us realized that the ride continued on to a roller coaster and another huge drop where you get soaked! And I'm not exaggerating I was soaked. Later in the day James took Brock on the other water ride where you sit in a circle tube thing and go around rapids. Everyone who got off that one was soaked from head to toe. I was all excited to see James drenched but what would you know, he walks off and him and Brock are completely dry. Just not fair! :)
Through out the course of the day we saw another two shows. One was an animal show that had Alyvia's full attention, and the other was the Sea Lion/Otter show. The animal show included stunts by different dogs, cats, birds, a kangaroo, pig, and ducks. I couldn't believe some of the tricks those trainers can get all those animals to do. The Sea Lion/Otter show is what James was looking forward to the most. The Otter didn't really do a whole lot in the show but he was so cute. The Sea Lion however is huge and loud and the kids really wanted to go swim with him. LOL Both kids actually sat through all the shows and were completely mesmerized by everything going on.
The rest of the time spent there we just walked around and got see all the different animals. The penguins were one of the first we saw. It was so cold to walk through the exhibit and I was still wet so that was fun. We also saw some sharks and this one you could see his teeth so perfectly, they were razor sharp! The kids got to feed the Sea Lions, touch the star fish and sting rays. The dolphins were neat and the sea turtles were huge. At the end of the day we headed over to Elmo's Land where the kids got to ride some more rides and then run crazy for a while.
It was an overall great experience for them both. It was so nice this year having Alyvia finally be old enough to enjoy everything too. I am really looking forward to next years vacation!
Oh I almost forgot one last thing. As we headed to our car after a long day we were talking about what beach we could take the kids to so they could at least walk on the sand and put there feet in the water. So, we got the kids buckled up and started the car and what would you know, we had a flat tire! Long story short we found a tire place and made it to them 5 minutes before close. Unfortunately they were not able to repair it. Luckily the mechanic said James could go buy a plug and we would make it home ok. We did find an Auto Zone and he was able to repair it. This took a few hours so we never made it to the beach and both kids missed dinner that night because it took so long they fell asleep in the car. At least in the end everything worked out ok!
