Palo Verde 10 year Reunion

I can not believe that 10 years have already passed since James graduated high school. For the past few years he has said he did not want to attend his reunion. Well lucky for him he changed his mind in July and we purchased our tickets. Saturday night was for the adults and it was hosted in one of the ballrooms at the Red Rock Hotel & Casino. Dress code was semi-formal so we had fun dressing up and had an overall great time. He saw quiet of few friends that he hadn't seen since high school which was neat. Amazing seeing how everyone grew up!

Sunday was family day at the actual high school. James hasn't been back to his school since graduation day so it was exciting for him. It was also exciting to show Brock daddy's school, which he could finally understand as he is in school himself.
The kids had a lot of things to do which included face painting, balloon animals, and hula hooping. Brock loves to hula hoop and is getting quiet good at it. I was surprised to see that a lot, of James class mates had children that were the same ages as ours, I forget that I started early and that most people wait till there mid 20's to start a family. So there were ton of little kids running crazy and enjoying there freedom. :)
At the end of the day James bought an Alumni shirt, which Im sure will hang in the closet and collect dust as his senior shirt does. I'm glad we were able to go and James said he was especially happy that he changed his mind and went. We all had a blast and who knows maybe he will go to his 20 year reunion which he is already saying he doesn't want to go to.

Pahrump County Fair and Rodeo

I love any County Fair which is why I have been waiting patiently for the annual Pahrump County Fair. This past weekend we took a trip to Pahrump so we could visit the fair, carnival, and rodeo. Two of our good friends and their families joined us up there so all the kids had a blast playing together. First up was the rodeo. I read on their website that it started at 7pm and what do you know, once we get there we find out it starts at 8pm. So we sat around for an hour, ate some greasy food and let the kids run around.

A few minutes before the rodeo started the announcer asked for all kids to head to the entrance gate for a coin round up. These guys walked into the middle of the arena and this lady threw $200 worth of 50 cent pieces into the dirt. At the sound of the gun fire all the kids ran to the middle of the arena and were allowed to grab as much money as the could. What ever they got they kept. Brock made out with 3 coins which he kindly gave his sister one! What a great big brother.

You will notice my next two pictures are of everyone looking to the sky and pointing. Ha they all look so retarded! LOL Anyway the announcer guy told everyone this guy was jumping out of an airplane and would be landing in the center of the arena. He was also supposed to be holding a huge American Flag.

The picture is dark but here is the guy on his way down. He did not land in the arena as planned but he did land in the bleachers that we were all sitting down on. Obviously I didn't get any pictures as most of us were throwing ourselves onto our children to protect them. The guy luckily did not land on anyone but his huge flag and parachute did take out a few people and the sand bag that was holding down the flag smacked a lady in the face. It was a terrifying moment but no serious injuries. Looking back on it we all laugh!

The Parhump High School ROTC all gathered the flag and held it out as the national anthem was sung. I think I love that part the most about rodeos!

After the rodeo we walked over to the carnival and went broke buying tickets for the kids! They of course loved it and only wanted to go on more and more rides. Madison is the little mommy and helped Alyvia across a huge bridge on one of the things they all did together.

Samantha also joined in the fun and took the kids on some spinning thing. Made me dizzy just watching but as you can see Brock is having a blast and Taylon is loving it. I believe Alyvia was terrified which is expected.
The last ride of the night was a worm roller coaster. Brock and Madison sat together and had nothing but huge grins on their faces the entire time.
By the end of the night we were all exhausted! I think we finally made it home about 12:30am. I even fell asleep in the truck which I never do. It was an overall great night. The rodeo was fun not the best but it was great entertainment and got us out of the house. I really enjoy anything that gets us out and about as a family!

Happy Birthday Mark

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARK!!! The night started at Macayo's which was delicious! I love that restaurant so I was more then happy to be invited. Samantha brought some yummy cupcakes which topped off my chocolate craving I've been having so that made me even more happier. After dinner everyone headed to the Green Valley Ranch.

It's not common for me to dress up so when I do I always get a good picture to remind myself and James that I can clean up nicely. LOL
We all hung out for a while and just enjoyed each others company. I enjoyed my hubby's even more since we didn't have any kiddos! It's also rare that we go out with just us and no kids so I was soaking it all up.

This was me before dinner but I didn't want to have it first in the blog since its supposed to be about Mark.

Thank you Mark and Sam for including us we had a fabulous time! Mark, hope you had a great Birthday!

Saturday Football

I'm not sure what life would be like with out kids sports. Brock plays baseball in the spring and now my nephew Michael is playing football. Michael had his first football game a couple weeks ago and we all headed out to cheer him on. The first game they lost 6-7 but their second game they won. He did great and we loved cheering him on and supporting the team! Brings back memories from my childhood when my little brother used to play! We will be going to more games as the kids also had a blast running crazy.

Happy Birthday Great Nana

Happy Birthday Nana! We love you so very much and we hope you had a wonderful birthday.

James and I took Alyvia to wish Great Nana a Happy Birthday while Brock was in school. It was wonderful to see her and spend some time with her.
Auntie Fe (Nana's sister) was visiting from California for Nana's birthday also so our visit was extra special with her there. It was a nice afternoon of catching up. Can't wait to see them both real soon.

Open House

I can remember being young and going to open house with my parents, and now its my turn with my own children. It's a very different feeling but I love it! I want to be involved as much as I can with the kids school so this was a great opportunity to see what Brock has learned so far and talk with his teacher.

He was so excited to show us his desk again and everything inside of it. We also met more of his class mates and saw tons of art work on the walls.

The school is a big maze to me but as we walked the halls Brock pointed out all of his classes stuff hanging up.

So far this year the kids have been really working on there alphabet and numbers. They just started learning about their five senses and will be getting to use some neat things like binoculars and microscopes to help learn more in depth. I spoke with his teacher and she said he is a great student just a little bit of a talker, but usually after being told once to be quiet he listens. He is starting to learn sounding out letters and can read and write the following words: one, two, three, four, five, a, the, it, in, cat, dog, and box. I'm sure there are a few more but those are the ones I remember at the moment. His favorite things about school are art, computers, lunch, and recess. He does not like P.E. because the teacher makes them run to the fence and back and also they have to stretch (he's a little lazy!).

We loved meeting his teacher again and getting reacquainted with his school. Its amazing to see the amount progress already made with the kids in few short weeks. I can't wait to see what else he will be learning the rest of the year.

Grandparents Luncheon

The PTA at Brock's school seem to be really great. One of the first things they hosted was a grandparents day luncheon. The kids were allowed to invite the parents, siblings, and grandparents to join them for lunch. So on top of James, Alyvia and me going Brock called Nay-Nay and Papa and invited them.

Chad was working but luckily he was able to stop by in his police uniform which the kids all thought was pretty neat. My mom snuck out of work and drove across town to make lunch. Brock was so excited to see them.
Brock's best friend Justin also joined us for lunch since his family couldn't make it. These two were friends before school started (I think they met in April) and were lucky enough to get the same class together.
After lunch we waited for the kids to all line up and head on out. Brock was line leader that weak and let me tell you he took his job seriously!

Psycho Kitty

That cute and adorable kitten we just adopted has turned into a very psycho kitty. Seriously, what cat climbs a screen door? One day last week James and I glanced over at the backdoor and this is what we saw. Neither one of us could believe what we were seeing. He really is a good cat just a little abnormal. :)

Labor Day Weekend 2010

I love any excuse to havea get together, and I love when we get invited. LOL Labor Day Weekend was most definitely a fun night. We were invited to my friends Samantha's Aunt and Uncles house for a night of food and swimming! All the kids had a blast and Brock was literally in the pool from the time we got there till the moment we left. He only got out when I forced him to eat. I swear that child is such a water baby.

All the little girls are always so cute together! They play so well and are becoming such great friends.
The bigger kids also had a great time playing with each other and luckily they all get along too! Its so nice when everyone can be nice to each other!
HAHA one of the highlights of our night was Alicia was tossed in the pool with all her clothes on. Her mom started it and then Mark and Reanna stepped in to help.
One of the golden retrievers also jumped in on the fun which the kids really thought was the neatest thing. Brock kept talking about it for days it was so cute!
By the end of the night we were all exhausted. The pool was great as was all the company. There is nothing better then spending a nice night with great friends. Happy Labor Day everyone!
