Nana's 90th Birthday

I feel very blessed to have been able to celebrate James' Nana's 90th birthday with her. Nana is one of the most amazing woman I have ever met. For her 90th birthday my mother-in-law and her sister put together a wonderful get together where all Nana's families and friends were able to celebrate with her.

The cake that was made for her was absolutely stunning. It was shaped to look like a piano and it turned out perfect. I almost didn't want them to cut into it because it looked to pretty to eat, but it tasted even better!!!

I love having these get togethers because even though we all live in the same city, with all our busy lives we really don't have time to see eachother except on special occassions. The kids have a blast playing together especially the little girls.

Before we left I made sure I got some pictures of Nana with her great grandchildren. She holds such a special place in our hearts and we are so blessed that the kids are able to have a relationship with her. Happy Birthday Nana!

First smile on camera!

Grant has been smiling randomly here and there but I was finally able to catch it on camera. I am looking forward to the day that he sees me and grins from ear to ear. Should be soon!

Rain Rain Rain

One of those few times a year when it actually rains in Vegas for more than 5 minutes! The kids got a kick out of being able to really enjoy a nice down pour and get soaking wet!

1st Grade

The summer has come to an end for Brock and he has started school again, only this time he is no longer the youngest of the school and in his own area where they are protected of the older kids. This time he is a 1st grader who gets to play on the big playground with ALL the other kids. It's a proud moment for James and I but an extremely emotional one. We met his teacher who has only ever taught 5th graders so this should be an interesting year for her. She seems nice and Brock really liked her so we will see. Our expectations are just set so high because he had the most wonderful kindergarten teacher any parent or child could ask for. She really ruined us for all other teachers to come and we truly wish she would move up a grade every year.

So, the first day of school was definitely chaotic but he loved every second of it. Of course he was up before anyone else in the house and ready to go to school almost an hour before it was time to leave. Before we left the house we took some pictures and then loaded up the truck and headed out. You seriously need to get to school 30 minutes early just to get a parking spot.

Once we got their we found his dot where he is to line up every day and then he started to see alot of friends with their families. He wouldn't admit it but you could sense he was nervous. The bell finally rang and after we each hugged and kissed him a million times he lined up with his class and headed inside.

So far everything has gone smoothly and he still likes his teacher and class. He's already learning so much and growing as a young boy. I just can't get over how fast they grow and I'm trying my hardest to just every second of his because before I know it he will be in junior high, then high school, and then leaving the nest!

James 29th Birthday

Happy Birthday my love! This year James turned the big 29! We celebrated his last year in his twenties with my parents. Nothing to crazy but a nice dinner some cake and ice cream and of course a good fight on T.V.

The older we seem to get the less excited we are about our own birthdays. I try every year to do some thing for him just to make it memorable. This year I told James we had to stop by my moms so she could give him her present and then we were to head home so I could cok him a nice dinner, lucky for us he thought nothing of us making the extra trip there since she was mostly bedridden due to a broken rib. As soon as he walked in my mom yelled (literally) "SURPRISE!" and informed him that she was ordering the fight on tv to watch and that we got him a birthday cake and for dinner we were having one of his favorites, Philly cheese from Capriottis. Needless to say he was super happy!
Next year I will definitely be sprucing it up a bit for the big 30, but this year we enjoyed our nice quite night with family! Happy Birthday Honey!

Rookies Baseball

I absolutely love baseball season and was so excited for fall ball to start. Brock is finally on the rookies which is coach pitch. This time around I was a little on edge because most of the kids he will be playing with are a year or two older then him and have been playing a while longer, so of course I had the typical mom worries of would he get made fun of because he's still learning and will he feel to intimidated and not want to play. Well, he put my fears to rest because he has been having the time of his life and it doesn't hurt that he knew a few of the boys on his team from previous t-ball years and school.

Brock is doing really great on hitting and his fielding has improved tremendously. He mainly plays left center, 2ND base, or my least favorite catcher. The coach is louder this year but he's great and James is also coaching which is making for a perfect season for us. Brock loves having his dad their and I know he is always going to remember this when he gets older.

The games are way more intense then t-ball ever was. Their are some parents on other teams that are very competitive so it kind of gets your blood pumping when they all start cheering and yelling. Makes me that much louder, only I cheer the boys on even when they have a bad play. So far Brock still loves the game so I hoping he wants to continue to play next season!

Trip to Dads work

We went and made a trip to James' work just to get out of the house one day. The kids were all excited to see his new office and desk. Once we got there I swear you would have thought those two never saw a desk before. Both Brock and Aly were going through everything lol! They found flashlights and of course those are exciting to shine at people and then they found some pens with the laser light on the end of it. They would not stop talking and asking questions about everything that James does. Curious little minds! It was definitely a nice little outing for us and break for James. We only stayed for about and hour and a half but it was enough to burn some energy and get a change of scenery.
