Water Balloon Fight

Do you have any idea how long it takes to fill up water balloons? Forever! James and I must have sat for a couple hours filling these things up. After awhile my fingers were starting to hurt from tying them but the end result was so worth it!

I promised Brock and Aly that we would have a water balloon fight soon, so one day while he was at school we filled a bunch up. Once he got home from school him and Aly changed into their swimsuits and had an all out war with dad.

Our backyard isn't huge and we have a trampoline that takes up a lot of space so instead of having everyone run round that and possibly slip on the rocks or fall into the plants James and the kids got into the trampoline and had their fight on that. Smart because clean up was a breeze. There must have been over 100 balloons and all three of them were soaked! I stayed in the background and took pictures, but next time I will be joining in on the fun!

51's baseball game

We took the kids to their first real baseball game. It was just a minor league game but we wanted to see how they would like sitting for a few hours watching the game play. Surprisingly they both did great! We went with our friends and their kids and everyone had a great time.

James and the kids brought their gloves which would have been nice if we were sitting about 5 rows back or forward. Their were a ton of foul balls going into the stands. Its a little nerve wracking if you don't pay attention because those balls come at you fast! Alyvia was more entertained by the people sitting around us but Brock really got into it and was cheering for our team.

It was a fun filled evening out with the family. Some day soon we will have to take them to a major league game!

Easter

This year for Easter we were actually on our way home from California. We thought about skipping the holiday altogether since the kids don't really know when it was but last minute decided to have James' mom get something together for them so when they came home they would have a surprise from the Easter bunny.

Once they both managed to make their way upstairs, they found their baskets the bunny had left for them on their beds! Both were so excited and tore right into them. Brock was excited about the toy car where as Alyvia was beyond thrilled to have candy! Next year we will be home especially because they both asked why the bunny didn't hide eggs for them to find..oops!

Quick trip to AZ

Title says quick trip but there is nothing quick about an 8 hour drive!! Brock really wanted to see his cousins for his birthday so for our last road trip before Grants arrival we headed down to Arizona for a few days. We arrived on his birthday and got to surprise MaKenzie when she got home from school. She had no idea we were coming!

For the most part it was just a relaxing visit. The kids got to watch Kenzie play in her softball game and cheer her on and then we also visited some caves that we weren't allowed to take pictures in. I think they were called the Kartchner Caves. Very neat but not something I would take a tour of again.

The trip went by fast but the kids really had a blast just hanging out and playing inside and outside. I think this was one of our more enjoyable trips because it was like home away from home. Not worrying about what we were going to do today and just played everything by ear and there was no stress.

Next time we see them there will be two new cousins to play with!

6 years old?

Do I really have a 6 year old already? Where on earth has all the time gone?

It's hard to believe that Brock has turned 6! He has been counting down the days for what seems like forever and I have been silently praying that these final weeks would go by slowly. Well, that didn't happened and he was extremely happy about that.

It's a little weird to me to say I have a 6 year old son, I don't think I'm old enough for that! Also, to realize that he is just getting closer and closer to double digits now! He is already talking about how old he needs to be to have a cell phone, play out side alone, get his license, and or even date! To me he is just crazy wanting to grow up so fast but I know that's what all kids dream about. I just want my baby to stay young for a while longer!

Happy 6th Birthday Brock! Mommy loves you!

Spring Break Vacation part II

The last leg of our family vacation was to meet up with my Great Aunt and Uncle and also my Great Grandma. They are from my mom's side of the family (her dads side) and I haven't seen them since I graduated high school in 2004. So if you are paying attention you realize that they have yet to meet my husband and children.

My Aunts house is so amazingly wonderful because she has lived in it longer then I have been born. It's one of those homes that will always be special because I remember visiting it when I was a little girl. Its in a very well kept neighborhood and the best feature of this house is the trampoline. Its underground! I was so excited to show the kids since they obviously love jumping on them and its safer (I think)!

Hopefully this will be easy to understand.... My Aunt is my Grandpa's twin sister, which makes her a great great to my kids. I loved being around her and talking about all the family. She knows so much about our family history that I wish we had had more time to visit. Now my grandma is a riot. We call her Mucka (thanks to who over her first born grand child is) and she is my Great Grandma which makes her the kids great great Grandma. She is in her 90's I think she just turned 95 so it meant alot to me to have her meet my kids because they are her first great great grand kids. Her memory isn't as sharp as it once was so every time Alyvia would come in the room Mucka would ask who that beautiful little girl was, you couldn't help smile at how many times we had to re introduce her. It was also nice to have finally introduced James to that side of my family. Now that's only a very small piece of my moms side of the family so hopefully one day we will be able to meet up with the rest.

After we left my Aunts we headed out to the beach. You can't visit California without seeing the water. The kids were so excited to play in the water but it was FREEZING! Alyvia doesn't have a memory of the ocean so it was extra special with her. Brock was ready to just dive in. They both rolled there pants up and got there feet wet, and then a huge wave came up and drenched Brock from head to toe. Luckily Alyvia was fast enough to get out of the way. After we walked across the street to buy Brock a new outfit we headed to the pier to have lunch at Ruby's and then back to the hotel.

Spring Break Vacation Part I

For our annual family vacation this year we headed to the happiest place on earth... Disneyland! We also invited my Mom and Chad to come with us which also made it easier on me since I wouldn't be allowed to go on some rides since I'm pregnant. We bought the two day hopper so we could do both Disneyland and California Adventure. I really liked California Adventure because it wasn't as crowded as Disneyland but Disneyland had more rides for Aly.

James and I just loved seeing the joy on Brock and Aly's faces. They were smiles the entire time and couldn't get enough of everything. Brock has no fear and loved all the rides. There were a couple that went to fast for Aly and made her cry but then she got over it real fast. Teacups were a favorite for them and so was Autopia. They kids loved every minute of it and were beyond exhausted by the end of both days. The weather was really nice and cool, a light drizzle on the first day and then overcast the next. I won't go into any more details since I added a lot of pictures. I can't wait to go to Disney world next! a
