First Water fun of the season 4-17-11

It definitely doesn't take long to get from freezing cold to burning hot in Las Vegas. It's finally hot enough outside where we can head out to the water parks in town! We've already had a few "hot" days but this day was our first water outing. My children are in LOVE with the water. They were cooled off instantly and were running around like crazy people! Being silly sitting on some of the water spouts waiting for them to come on. I love how they are always together. (I'm enjoying these days lord knows it doesn't last forever!)
She was so excited to wear her bathing suit finally, she wears it in the house randomly but to be able to finally wear it outside was the best thing ever for her or so she told me!
After running around and playing for a good hour and a half she decided enough was enough and found a spot next to her friend Talon to relax. The sun was making us all tired.
Except for Brock I think he could have easily played for a few more hours. Mr. Personality here!
After the water fun we headed over to get some yummy frozen yogurt. That definitely lifted all our tired spirits. It was a nice ending to a fun filled day!

Alyvia and Legos

Alyvia is forever playing in her room while Brock is at school. I feel bad sometimes because most days I'm tired or just don't know what to do with her outside of the house besides the park. One afternoon I was doing laundry and realized the house was extra quiet. I found her in the room playing Lego's. She must have played Lego's by herself for an hour. It was adorable and she was content. Another afternoon while waiting for Brock, Aly brought me my camera and said "I want to take pictures!" I though she meant she wanted to use my camera, but instead she wanted me to take pictures of her being "silly".

I know she is going to be much happier when summer comes and Brock is out of school! She needs her partner in crime back full time.

Kindergarten Spring Program 4-15-11

Brock's teacher decided that this year she was going to have a spring program instead of an end of the year program because she was leaving the first of May for maternity leave. She is such a devoted teacher and really wanted to be a part of this which I thought was so nice. She absolutely loves her job and it truly shows. The kids all have been practicing for a few weeks now and the cute part about this was it was all supposed to be a secret. Now, Brock knows how to keep a secret and wouldn't even give us a hint as to what the program/performance was about.

Some of our extended family were able to make the performance which Brock loved. I know he enjoys having people be there for him and it means so much to James and I to have the support.

Kaylee and Alyvia were so cute waiting for Brock to come out with his class. These two were so well behaved and loved watching him.
His teacher asked that all the kids dress in their Sunday best for this day so Brock and dad of course got all excited and went shopping for a new outfit. Isn't he so handsome?

He looks so cute with all his friends, and it was hilarious to see some them get embarrassed! The entire program was just singing. I think they sang around 7 or 8 songs.

One of the last songs they all sang was an alphabet song and every student had their own solo. Towards the end of the song is when they all had their solo, some of them went like this, "A your adorable, B your so beautiful.... F you are a feather in my arms, G you look good to me, H your so heavenly..."

Then it was Brocks turn and he sang, "I you're the one that I idolize." Some of the kids kind of shouted their part but Brock actually sang it and as soon as he was done he looked right over at us with a big smile! I think I cried most of the performance.

Once the singing was all done his teacher made a speech and then announced that she had a present for all the parents from the kids. The present was a binder with pictures of your student through out the year at some of their special events like the first day of school, Thanksgiving feast, Christmas breakfast, and their Valentines party.

His school doesn't do a graduation for the kindergartners which I'm not sure if that's the schools choice or a district thing so this program was kind of in lieu of that. Also announced right at the end was that everyone in the class had passed and would be attending 1st grade in August!

Brocks 6th Birthday Party 4-16-11

Brock's 6th birthday party was a few weeks back. We had a "small" get together at the house with mostly family and close friends. When I say small you would think I meant around 10 to 15 but for us that means more like 30!

Brock's close friend Rusty came over which made his day all that more special. These two boys have basically grown up together and even though they don't see each other as often as they would like their friendship never fades, they act like they saw each other just the other day.

Mostly for the birthday party all the kids hung out outside on the trampoline or played upstairs. As they get older they all start to do their own thing and the adults get to actually sit around and socialize more. I made spiderman cupcakes which were a huge hit and then presents were opened and the pinata was brought out. Nothing like sending home a bunch of crazy kids with a bag full of candy!

Oh and I almost forgot I didn't cry during the birthday song, but I did tear up a little.

Game Ball 4-2-11

The beginning of the season Brock's coach announced that after each game he was going to hand out the game ball to one player. I think that was a neat incentive for all the kids because most of them are actually trying their best now and paying more attention. Brock has been asking when he would get the game ball and we always tell him play your best and I'm sure the coach will give it to you soon. He has even been practicing at home more so he can prove to his coach he deserves it.

Finally, a few Saturdays ago Brock played the best game he has ever played. He even caught the ball in the air TWICE! That is a huge accomplishment! I think my voice was gone by the end of the game I yelled so loud.

After the game the team lines up and signs the game ball and the coach then gives it to the player that he believes played the best (every player gets a game ball no matter what!) These four usually are always hanging out together waiting.

After what seemed like forever coach announced Brock was the player of the game! He was all smiles and both James and I got a little choked up. We were beyond proud of him.

He must have played a hard game because they both fell asleep on the way home and took a good hour and a half nap!
